1. Acceptance of Terms
Your use of peoplesactioninstitute.org is subject to your compliance with the terms and conditions set forth in this Terms of Use agreement (“Terms of Use”), which are supplemented by any additional guidelines or other terms posted by Campaign for America’s Future (CAF) or Institute for America’s Future (IAF) in relation to specific peoplesactioninstitute.org-related services or content.
People’s Action Institute reserve the right to update or modify the Terms of Use without advance notice by posting a revised Terms of Use to peoplesactioninstitute.org. Users of peoplesactioninstitute.org (“you”) can determine whether the Terms of Use has been modified since your last visit by checking the “Last updated” legend at the top of this page. By using peoplesactioninstitute.org, you agree to be bound by the version of the Terms of Use then in effect. People’s Action Institute may deny service to you at any time, including in the event you do not adhere to the Terms of Use.
2. Purposes of peoplesactioninstitute.org
People’s Action Institute are nonpartisan organizations, with a mission to forge the enduring progressive majority needed to realize the America of shared prosperity and equal opportunity that our country was meant to be.
The purposes of peoplesactioninstitute.org are to assist in the above mission by promoting the work of People’s Action Institute, leading discussion about news and proposed policies, and providing an online community for progressives to share ideas. The purpose of peoplesactioninstitute.org is not to advance the interests of any particular party or candidate for office.
3. Submissions
People’s Action Institute welcome you to share your ideas, comments, written and multimedia content, and other information (collectively, “Submissions”) through the various tools offered on peoplesactioninstitute.org subject to your agreement to comply with the Terms of Use. Submissions are shared for public viewing and use on peoplesactioninstitute.org, and do not include personal contact information you submit in order to join an e-mail list, information provided in making a financial contribution, or information solely as part of the process of contacting decision-makers or signing a petition on peoplesactioninstitute.org. Please be aware that by making Submissions through peoplesactioninstitute.org, you agree to give People’s Action Institute certain rights in those materials.
By posting Submissions — you grant to People’s Action Institute and its designees a worldwide, non-exclusive, sublicenseable, assignable, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right (including any moral rights) and license to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works based on, perform and display such Submissions (in whole or in part) in any media now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose whatsoever, without compensation to you or any other provider of the Submissions. You also permit any visitor to peoplesactioninstitute.org to access, display, view, store and reproduce such Submissions for personal use.
You acknowledge that to the extent that you include personally identifiable information in Submissions, People’s Action Institute may republish such information as part of the content. If People’s Action Institute republishes your content, People’s Action Institute may provide authorship credit by listing your name as well.
Although People’s Action Institute have no obligation to monitor the Submissions, you acknowledge and agree that People’s Action Institute may do one or all of the following: (a) monitor the Submissions; (b) alter, edit, or remove any Submission; or (c) disclose any Submissions. This section will survive any termination or expiration of these Terms of Use.
4. Community Rules
peoplesactioninstitute.org uses ” Community Rules” set forth below to create a forum where information and progressive views can be shared in a productive way. While using peoplesactioninstitute.org, you agree to adhere to the Community Rules below.
You agree to:
- Respect others – by not threatening, insulting, abusing, intimidating or harassing other users.
- Use peoplesactioninstitute.org to participate in the peoplesactioninstitute.org’s mission, not to promote yourself or your organization. Posting Submissions solely to promote your own projects is not allowed.
You agree not to:
- Post any Submissions or provide links to any Submissions that endorse or oppose a particular political party or candidate for office.
- Post any private information or otherwise harvest, collect or disclose information, about another site user without his or her express consent.
- Post any content to peoplesactioninstitute.org that is unlawful, racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise hateful, or libelous, defamatory, obscene, or harassing.
- Post any content to peoplesactioninstitute.org that infringes any third party’s intellectual property or other rights.
- Use peoplesactioninstitute.org for any unlawful purpose, or transmit or otherwise make available in connection with peoplesactioninstitute.org any material that would give rise to criminal or civil liability.
- Use peoplesactioninstitute.org for advertisements, chain letters, “spamming,” survey solicitations, junk mail or solicitations.
- Impersonate any person or entity, including any People’s Action Institute employees, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Imply that People’s Action Institute endorses any of your statements or positions.
- Transmit any harmful, invasive or disruptive code or other materials (such as viruses, worms or web bugs) through or to peoplesactioninstitute.org, or otherwise “hack” or deface any portion of peoplesactioninstitute.org.
- Frame or mirror any part of peoplesactioninstitute.org without prior written authorization from People’s Action Institute.
You acknowledge that People’s Action Institute has the right, but not the obligation, to modify or remove, any Submissions that violate the Community Rules or that otherwise violate the Terms of Use.
5. Proprietary Rights, Re-Use Policy and Limits on Use
You acknowledge and agree that the information and materials presented on or through peoplesactioninstitute.org will remain the property of People’s Action Institute and its licensors or providers, and are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, and/or other proprietary rights and related laws, rules and regulations. All articles and other text content have a “byline” indicating the author of that article or other content element. Any such text content authored by CAF, IAF or any staff member of either organization, may be freely reproduced, copied, and distributed solely for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given and, if the use is online, a link back to peoplesactioninstitute.org is provided. All other text content remains the property of its author and may only be reproduced with permission.
Video and audio content labeled “produced by” People’s Action Institute may be reproduced if used in its entirety solely for noncommercial purposes, with appropriate credit given to People’s Action Institute and, if the use is online, a link back to peoplesactioninstitute.org is provided. No derivative works may be created, and no component elements of audio or video content may be extracted and used outside the work as a whole. All other audio or video content remains the property of its author and may only be reproduced with permission.
Photos, graphics and other images, and any other content not addressed above may be reproduced only with permission.
“Appropriate credit” means that you attribute the materials to People’s Action Institute, credit a specific author when one is identified, and provide a link to either the CAF home page or the IAF home page or the specific URL where the material originated.
You may not make any editorial changes to articles or materials without first receiving express permission from People’s Action Institute. This provision does not restrict excerpting portions of content in a manner that does not alter the editorial intent.
The trademarks, service marks, logos and trade names displayed on peoplesactioninstitute.org (collectively the “Marks”) are the registered and unregistered trademarks of People’s Action Institute, its licensors and suppliers, and others. All Marks on peoplesactioninstitute.org not owned by People’s Action Institute are the property of their respective owners. The Marks owned by People’s Action Institute, whether registered or unregistered, may not be used in connection with any product or service from any other organization or individual.

8. Claims of Copyright Infringement
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the “DMCA”) provides recourse for copyright owners who believe that material appearing on the Internet infringes their rights under U.S. copyright law. 10. Jurisdictional Issues
peoplesactioninstitute.org is controlled and operated by People’s Action Institute from their principal offices in the District of Columbia, U.S.A., and is not intended to subject People’s Action Institute to the laws or jurisdiction of any other state, country or territory. 15. Miscellaneous
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law principles. If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision will be deemed severable from these Terms of Use and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. People’s Action Institute may assign their rights and obligations under these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use, together with all policies referred to herein, are the entire agreement between People’s Action Institute and you relating to the subject matter herein and supersedes any and all prior or contemporaneous written or oral agreements between People’s Action Institute and you with respect to such subject matter.
