Washington D.C. – Six people were arrested here today, protesting Sen. Mitch McConnell’s efforts to undermine health care for everyone in America. Those arrested included four leaders with United Vision for Idaho, one from Rights and Democracy in Vermont and one from Jane Addams Senior Caucus in Illinois.
They were in the hallway outside McConnell’s office with about 75 other members of the People’s Action network, chanting and sharing their health care stories. McConnell is Senate Majority Leader.
Those arrested were: Nimi Sandhu, Cal Whedbee, Angela Housley and Adrienne Evans of Idaho; Mary Gerisch of Vermont, and Sameena Mustafa of Illinois.
People’s Action is one of the largest and the fastest growing people’s organizations in the country, with 48 member organizations in 32 states, including Idaho and more than a million grassroots leaders.
Nearly a thousand multiracial, progressive activists from throughout the country are in D.C. this week as part of the People’s Action #PeoplesWave convention.
Much of the three-day #PeoplesWave was live-streamed.
