WASHINGTON, D.C.–People’s Action released the following statement from executive director Sulma Arias in response to reports that the Supreme Court of the United States intends to overturn Roe v. Wade:

“Every person should get every kind of health care that they need, whenever they need it. The right-wing justices on the Supreme Court and the billionaires who put them there disagree, and they want to divide us against each other so they can control people’s lives. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, it will put the health and freedom of all people at risk, especially the low income women, nonbinary, and trans people of color in the South who have faced attacks on their health care for generations.

“This draft majority opinion should be thrown in the trash and left there. And Congress should immediately pass laws protecting the right to health care, including abortion services.

“We must defend women and everyone’s rights to health care and reproductive freedom now and in the future. We need to save Roe.”
