WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action released the following statement from Director of Movement Politics Ryan Greenwood in response to reports that Joe Biden would consider JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon, Bank of America’s Anne Finucane, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg for senior economic posts in a Biden administration.

“Joe Biden wants to hand our economy to bankers and billionaires responsible for devastating attacks on the multiracial working class, especially people of color. We deserve better.

“These people’s greed triggered the financial crisis of 2008. Black families lost more than half of their wealth during that crisis and still have not recovered.

“The Democratic Party cannot be the party of the multiracial working class and the party of the big banks and racist billionaires at the same time. We have to choose.”

People’s Action endorsed Bernie Sanders for president in 2019.

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 40 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that included Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro, and Andrew Yang. The Nation called our Iowa forum the “most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.
