WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action Campaigns Director Sondra Youdelman today released the following statement in response to the House passage of the PRO Act:

“Workers face an uphill battle, and they need a strong labor movement to protect them as we recover from this pandemic. We have to fight to make sure that corporations and the wealthy aren’t handed any more bailouts, and working folks are put first. That’s exactly what the PRO Act would do.

“This bill is broader than labor. It brings in progressive grassroots groups, climate justice organizations, and all workers from unions across every field, not just current members. It empowers workers to organize, holds corporations accountable for union-busting, repeals ‘right to work’ laws that inhibit our multiracial democracy from growing, and makes it easier for workers to form unions without fear and reach a first contract quickly after a union is recognized.

“The PRO Act will help launch labor into the 21st century and rebuild the movement. Now that it’s passed in the House, we’re looking for action in the Senate.”
