WASHINGTON – The next Ready to Resist monthly mass movement telephone call will be Sunday at 8 p.m. E.T. / 5 p.m. P.T. and will focus on Confronting White Supremacy.
The call will summarize events of the past week since the Charlottesville white supremacy display, will provide historic context and lay the groundwork for national actions and campaigns countering supremacists in the days and weeks ahead. Mehrdad Azemun, campaigns director for People’s Action, will moderate the discussion.
“White supremacy shows up in multiple ways: horrific and violent events like Charlottesville, and less visible ways like restricting voting rights, organizing deportation forces and destroying public education,” said Azemun. “While Trump endorses white supremacy, there is a deep hunger on the streets about what we can all do to fight it, and that’s what we will do with tens of thousands of activists on Sunday.”
The monthly call is hosted by People’s Action, MoveOn.org, Working Families, Center for Popular Democracy, Indivisible and other allies, with as many as 40,000 people expected to listen in.

Speakers this Sunday include:
- Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), co-sponsor of a resolution to censure President Trump, and calling on the president to fire advisors who encourage white supremacists.
- Wes Bellamy, vice-mayor of the city of Charlottesville, Virg., will talk about the decision to remove the statue, and how the people of Charlottesville are responding to the white supremacist violence.
- Eric Ward, senior fellow, Southern Poverty Law Center, and Greeley O’Connor, Political Research Associates, experts in White Nationalism, will lead a training on white supremacy, its history in America, and what it looks like today;
- Arisha Hatch, Color of Change; Keron Blair, Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools; and Greisa Martinez, United We Dream discuss ways to take action to resist white supremacy and racism in policy-making, remove its public symbols, and demand action, not words, from elected officials.
Speakers will also offer ideas for talking to friends, neighbors and family about the alt-right movement and how to challenge it in your community.
